      <title>MAPS 3.2 is just released</title>
      <description><![CDATA[                         MAPS 3.2 is here !<br /><br />It is a real pleasure to know that MAPS 3.2 is ready for download.<br /><br />It is the result of long development efforts which introduce a lot of new functionality (database, QSAR, Amorphous builder, LAMMPS, TOWHEE, ABINIT, scripting, ...).<br /><br />I would like to thank our fantastic development team for the extras miles they had to go in order to put everything in place. <br /><br />MAPS 3.2 is really a major achievement not only because this is our product but because it really brings new concepts and tools in Materials Science never used before in such a way.<br /><br />MAPS today is not only a modeling environment but a scientific toolbox.<br /><br />For instance with SciPython up and running one could try something very nice:<br /><br /><br />1. from the Windows Start menu choose Scienomics | SciPython-2.6 | Pydee IDE<br />2. navigate to <a href='http://matplotlib.sourceforge.net/gallery.html' target='_blank'>http://matplotlib.sourceforge.net/gallery.html</a><br />3. click on any chart ( eg: <a href='http://matplotlib.sourceforge.net/examples/mplot3d/surface3d_demo.html' target='_blank'>http://matplotlib.sourceforge.net/exa..._demo.html</a>)<br />4. copy the Python code from below the picture onto the clipboard<br />5. switch to Pydee and press the Create a new python script toolbar button<br />6. in the New Python script dialog give it a name, like surface3d_demo.py and press the Save button<br />7. paste the python code from the clipboard into this script<br />8. press the Run current script in interactive console toolbar button<br />9. a new figure window is opening displaying a 3D plot in interactive mode even<br />10. repeat steps 3-8 for any gallery picture as you wish<br /><br />Moral?<br /> <br />You get with MAPS a complete Python based scientific computing environment, with 3 full IDE's like: Pydee, IDLE, PythoWin.<br /><br />So you can (or we can for you):<br /><br />create complete Qt (!) and wxPython (!) based GUI applications: own applications for automating your environments based on MAPS and the Computing engines, etc.<br /><br />do scientific computations with Numpy and ScientificPython, ( even image processing with PIL)<br /><br />do with Matplotlib and OpenGL printing quality plotting of your results, data, statistics, experiments<br /><br />have database support for managing your scientific data ( beside the MAPS Database, of course):<br /><br />          o MS SQL Server, MS Access, AS/400, etc. access through the Microsoft ADO<br />          o for very large or complex data management with PyTable and HDF5<br /><br />Practically there is no more need to install any third party Python distribution!       <title>MAPS 3.2 in its last testing phase</title>

      <title>SciMeeting in progress</title>
      <description><![CDATA[                         It's an exciting moments for all of us at Scienomics to hold this event that allows to meet our users and discuss progress in materials science, modeling and simulations.<br /><br />The quality of the speakers enrich the exchanges and prove that these meetings are valuable to all of us.<br /><br />Personally I would like to underline the importance of molecular modeling and simulations which can be used as virtual experimentation in order to support Quality by Design where the need for a systematic analysis of alternative is necessary but at the same time impossible given their large number.<br /><br />Therefore the development of validated and performing models based of strong scientific arguments is necessary.       <title>SciMeeting 2009</title>
      <description><![CDATA[                         In the five years of existence of  Scienomics we always had as our priorities the scientific excellence and exchange with our users and partners. For this reason and with the support of our users we can proudly claim that we deliver state-of-the-art technology. However, maintaining this high level of quality requires continuous scientific research and development activities. Indeed in each of the fields we deliver simulation technology we make sure that there are advances that may benefit our users and give them competitive advantage. The decision concerning what new functionality should be implemented is difficult to be taken.  IMT Consortium members have played a significant role in this process and I personally would like to thank all of them for their support and constructive discussions.<br /><br />Today, pursuing this tradition we want to organize an even larger consulting group composed not only by Scienomics users but also include scientists who simply want to promote the use of modeling and simulations in the industrial R&D.
